The first two presentations that I saw connections between were Dr. Beck’s and Dr. Boasso’s. I had already thought a lot about using Dr. Boasso’s idea of making a digital curation for my project but was unsure of how I wanted to display the information. After seeing the methods Dr. Beck used to show photos, videos and other media on top of google…[Read more]

This presentation reminded me a bit of the google street view exercise that we did with Dr. Beck. The idea of mapping different locations and timelines presents data in a way that I would not have expected. It could be used for so many different things. I like Thomas’ suggestion of using it for an interactive story. I might play with this software…[Read more]

This presentation was executed so confidently. I enjoyed listening to it. Also, I was happy to finally learn about what my roommates had talked about for so long. They had taken a class with him on data sonification. It was really cool to actually hear the professor’s side of that after hearing it from students. I think the entire idea of data…[Read more]

This presentation opened my eyes to the fact that graphs and charts could be seen as an important digital tool. Being a science major, I feel that I have taken graphs for granted. I often think that all data presented just requires a visual chart of some kind with it. I never put much thought into it otherwise. I write a lab report; I add a graph.…[Read more]

Honestly, when I had originally talked to Dr. Beck on the first day, I found her work interesting but was struck with a common thought of mine: “What am I actually going to do with this?” I am happy to say that her presentation cleared that up for me. The idea of mapping images and sounds together is really awesome!
