    • Included the character of Philanax as “The Duke’s Fool,” though in Arcadia he is Basilius’s trusted friend and likely one of his advisors. The show used Philanax as a framing tool and narrator
    • “The Oracle” is a woman and has no personal relationship to the other characters

San Francisco: The Curran Theatre

“Head Over Heels” adopts its Broadway branding
  • Ran from April 10, 2018 – May 6, 2018
  • Book writer changes to James Magruder
  • Director changes to Michael Mayer
  • The script is overhauled and, while it strays further from Arcadia, it becomes the show as it opened on Broadway
    • Eliminates Philanax and his framing of the show
    • The Oracle becomes Pythio

Now / Future

The history of Head Over Heels continues to be told. The first production to take place post-Broadway happened in New York in August 2019. With the return of live theatre, productions are now happening all over the country

  • A re-imagined version of Head Over Heels is set to run at the Pasadena Playhouse in California from November 9, 2021 – December 12, 2021
    • The production is directed, choreographed, and conceived by Jenny Koons and Sam Pinkleton
    • It reshapes the show into an immersive, concert-style, 80-minute one act
