Welcome to the University of New Haven Theater Arts Program.
Our program offers students a wide range of opportunities to explore all aspects of theater, from acting and dance to design, directing, dramaturgy, and playwriting. Our students study the history of theater, practice vocal and movement techniques, become adept at stagecraft, and hone the organizational skills needed for stage management.
Students also have opportunities to direct a one-act play, collaborate on devised performances, and participate in productions as performers, playwrights, directors, designers, stage managers, dramaturgs, and/or technicians — practical experience that not only builds skills but also fosters a vibrant, collaborative campus community.
Our production seasons feature a blend of classic and contemporary plays and musicals, as well as new works. Students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty and visiting artists and to put their training into practice.
Our faculty are working artists, leaders, and innovators in their fields, bringing both professional experience and academic rigor to the classroom and the stage.
