Your final project should include your author bio (complete with photo or avatar) and three original pieces of writing. If you are creating a website that is more than a portfolio of your work, you should also create an about page for the site, explaining its purpose and what readers can expect. The course schedule for the coming weeks is filled with deadlines for you to draft and revise three original pieces. You will also see homework assignments to read or watch things that will help you revise your work; we will draw on resources about the following things during in-class class workshops:
- Audience
- SEO
- Images
- Color
- Font
- CRAP (the four principles of design)
I encourage you to write a complete rough draft each time one is due so you can work with it as we refine for the features above. Ask me and/or your group members for feedback whenever you’re ready (in class or by e-mail). I will create a feedback video for each of your revised pieces and I will ask you to write a short reflection on each individual piece responding to my feedback so I can address any lingering questions. I expect two thorough rounds of revision for these pieces (one revision between rough and revised and another round of revision before the final project is submitted). Let me say it again: revision is the most important thing!
Project Reflection: After you have submitted your complete project (a link to a single website or a series of links to different platforms (depending on choices you’ve made), I will create a feedback video responding to your overall project. I ask that you review this feedback video before creating your final self-evaluation for the course. I will share additional instructions for the final self-evaluation as we approach that stage.
