Medium is a very intuitive platform, which is useful for creating articles and stories. Personally i used it in this assignment to create an article about Avatar’s world building; which is linked above. I found the platform to be easy to use with ways to embed media to work with my article effectively. Unfortunately it is primarily a template based Graphic User Interface, which means there is not a variety of customization, but this allows the user to focus more on the content and less on the design aspect of the website itself. In contrast, the interaction with other readers is rather robust. The ability to share articles and leave comments is immediate and the ability to follow writers, just like a social platform is really awesome. This leads me in to talking about how easy it would be to collaborate with other artists on the platform. Moreover, the ease of interaction allows talking to authors on other platforms, like instagram, twitter, and facebook easily. Lastly, as I was posting the article I realized that you could add tags to the article, which is awesome for search engine optimization as it allows for readers to read articles that are already in their interest.
I also wanted to highlight a platform i admire and that is YouTube. This popular media website allows for the access of many different types of creators to express themselves in video format. One of my favorite creators on the platform is Jenny Nicholson. She makes various videos about popular culture that go in depth. Her way of turning a lackluster disposition into a very entertaining and comedic conversation makes her videos one of the best on the site. Now she is one such example, but there are many more creators that are just as innovative and interesting. Moreover, the fact that Youtube is so genre orientated means that there is something for everyone on the platform. There are many ways to make videos, but people find their niche’s and create for the platform. There is easy interaction with viewers with comments and collaborations are common among the community as a whole. It’s probably one of the best platforms to find freelance creator media and probably will be for the time being.
