We will use a shared word online document for in-class workshops. This involves each student adding an excerpt of their in-process work to complete a brainstorming or revision exercise. These workshops are meant to give you a start on a process you can then apply to your entire project, but having everyone’s example in our shared document helps you all learn by seeing the wide range of possibilities and the kind of feedback I’m offering across the board. If you do not feel comfortable sharing your in-process work in Our Doc, please let me know and I will create a private document for you, which you can copy our in-class activities into and share only with me.
Our doc will serve as a powerful place to collaborate and I hope it will also help us chronicle lively discussions. For each class period, one student will be the note-taker. The note-taker for the day will be the only student with a computer open during our discussion, and the note-taker will do their best to capture brilliant ideas that emerge from our conversation. Others can add into these notes later, drawing on notes handwritten during the discussion.
Other than a laptop or tablet that you can use for workshops in Our Doc, you will need a notebook and pen/pencil to take notes during our discussions. I suggest getting a notebook you feel great about writing in.
