the plot of the immigrants

Like the previous book, “A Promised Land,” this is a type of story that is truly hard to speak about when you talk about the plot of the book or the storyworld of the book, considering how it’s mostly talks about the experience of the author in question or about the family of the author and some of the struggles that they have. that being said there are some immigrants litertuare that dose have an actual plot to it’s name. Case in point, the story I read for the post named “Monkey Bridge”. Novel made by Lan Cao, it speaks about the pilgrimage of a  Vietnamese-American immigrant experience, told through the interlocking stories of a young girl, Mai, and her mother, Thanh, as they navigate life in America after fleeing Saigon. This mix of both the perspective of the mother and the daughter has given us multiple experiences. similar to the previous book, but it have mutiple of new experiences.

experience#1

For the most part, most of the experience that i had was somewhat similar to the first book, one of those experiences that I found similar to the second book was empathy. empathy for both the mother and the daughter, for the struggles that they had during the Vietnam War, as well as some of the hardship they have endured when they have went to America

technology

of the technologies that the author uses is similar to the previous post, and that is the empathy generator (Allowing the audience to experience the true remorse of a character). When we started the book, they were discussing some of the hardships they had at Viteman during the Viteman War. (I unfortunately have read this on Autobook, and I ended the subscription after reading, so I unfortunately don’t have any of the quotes ), That being said, books are also similar in the fact that while they had some problems, they have issues that are somewhat different; they both had similar issues when it comes to being in America. while both books as some similar experiences in how they view immigration, there are some differences that dose show the uniqueness of both stories. While “The Promised Land” mostly uses the empathy generator most of the time, this story used two other narrative technologies that she’s uses for this story as well. One being “I voice” (a narrator who speaks in the first person). Considering this is shown from the perspectives of both the mother and the daughter, instead of the narrator’s, we get two first-person narratives from them. The other narrative technology that she uses is Stream of Consciousness (A narration technology that allows the reader to witness the free flow of characters’ inner thoughts) now this may be a reach. Still, considering that we have two perspectives, we’re able to looks at some of the inners thoughts of both the mother and the daughter. giving us another layer to see their struggles and sympathize with them.
