Project Reflection: Assignment 1

To guide your first project reflection, I have created five categories for questions below. Please compose answers to these questions in a document that you can upload to Canvas. Your task is to engage thoroughly in the task of assessing your project; you may structure this in whatever way works best for you. My goal is to share video feedback on your first assignment by the end of the day Friday (9/13). I recommend you start on this reflection before you’ve watched that video. This reflection is your chance to evaluate yourself, so thinking about this on your own before getting my feedback can help establish that this is your reflection about your work.

Process

I asked you to prepare for this assignment through the following homework and in-class activities. How many of these activities did you do and how did they help you think through your work? Did you do anything outside of this assigned work to help your project come together? To answer this question with specifics, please read through your doc and our doc and select examples of specific things you did. If there are activities you didn’t do, please explain what interfered with you completing the work and/or anything you did on your own to make progress on the assignment. Your goal here is to assess your process with this assignment so you can establish specific goals for future work.

In class, I demonstrated how to start using Zotero. In our document, I asked you to share sources you were finding about the community/problem you were exploring.

9/2

In your document, I asked you to continue finding sources to build your project

In class, I asked for volunteers to share sources found so we could all test their reliability together.

9/7

over the weekend, you had a draft due

In our document, I asked you to: share the bits of your draft that you felt comfortable sharing and invited students to workshop their drafts

9/9

Before class, I asked you to keep refining your first project

In class, I demonstrated the process for using grantforward and PND. In our document, I asked you to share what you were finding in those two databases.

Revision

How did you get feedback on your rough draft for this project? Did you ask for direct feedback from Dr. Isbell or anyone else? Did you get feedback in person, via zoom, or through text comments? Kaizena was not working; did that stop you from reaching out again to get feedback? What kind of feedback do you ideally want to seek for your next project?

Quality

How would you assess the quality of the work you produced? How clearly does it describe the organization you plan to help with grant funding? How clearly does it establish your role in that organization? Does it make it clear which aspects of the project are true and which are fictionalized? Are reliable sources included to support claims made? Are there things you wish were different that you’re not sure how to change?

Grade

Given your assessment of the work you put into this project and the quality of the bio you produced, what grade do you give yourself on this project?

Plan

What is your plan for success on our next project? Are there things you want to make sure to continue doing? Are there new things you’d like to try?
