Lauren Boasso

An interdisciplinary background in the humanities informs my approach to teaching composition and literature courses. Because students operate in an increasingly digital world that requires proficiency with a variety of media, I assign projects that incorporate visual analysis and digital production. I challenge students to consider the relationship between image and text in both course readings and the projects they create. My research focuses on the multiple and often ambiguous representations of Victorian prisoners during the pivotal period when prisons began shutting their doors to outsiders. An emphasis on the context of media production and circulation structures both my teaching and research.
