Destiny Child, originally known as the Girl’s Tyme, was an incredibly powerful and popular R&B group from Houston Texas in the 1990s. In 1997, Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland,\u00a0LaTavia Roberson, and\u00a0LeToya Luckett\u00a0were signed to\u00a0Columbia Records\u00a0as Destiny’s Child. Over time, the group members changed due to internal and legal issues. Beyonce’s father, Matthew Knowles, was the center of much of the controversy between the group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destiny’s Child began when Beyonce Knowles and LaTiva Roberson\u00a0were just nine years old. Both met at an audition and became friends, and Beyonce’s father began developing their act based on singing and rapping and took their name from a passage in the Book of Isaiah. Beyonce’s cousin\u00a0Kelly Rowland joined Destiny’s Child in 1992, and thereafter the group appeared on Star Search, where they performed a rap song. Being that Destiny’s Child began when the members where young, it was inevitable that as the group progressed, its identity and style would also change.
