The application process is very strenuous. It is available to the public online through the ABC website. They ask questions like height, weight, hair color, which are acceptable since it is a dating show. Questions that are also asked include salary, education, criminal record, alcoholic tendencies and your current following on social media. Some of the questions that are asked make sense. It is a dating show where people “fall in love” within a number of weeks, so questions asking about criminal records and age are reasonable questions to ask while the questions regarding weight, salary and followers on Instagram are unorthodox questions.
In the terms of social media, there was a contestant that the social media account could not be found but other than that the lowest number of followers was 212 and the highest was 65,000. The woman with the previously lowest count is now at 4727 while the one with the highest is now at 1.5M. So that proves that the show does have some effect when it comes to their digital identity because the woman with the lowest number of followers was gone after night one, so she left an impression on the viewers just not a big enough impression on Colton Underwood.
Hannah Godwin admitted being an influencer from the beginning, there is nothing wrong with that, it just means she got a head start on the influencer trend prior to every other contestant. She still keeps her love of photography through her working because prior to school she was working as a model.
Cassie Randolph is still in school in order to get her master’s degree in speech pathology. Being on the show didn’t stop her from pursuing her career, neither does the constant travel due to the fame of the show. She uses her platform not only to better her brand, but she also uses it to show that she is still working hard to better her education.
Godwin and Randolph both had a heavy social media presence prior to the show, but for different reasons. One was a model, the other was related to an actress and had reality tv experience. They were on the same season of the Bachelor, they both made it to fantasy suites (which is like the finals) and then Underwood picked Randolph. Godwin proceeded to go on Bachelor in Paradise, where she meets Dylan Barbour from Hannah Brown’s season of the Bachelorette. Both couples are still together as of now. Underwood was a professional football player, so Randolph could be getting a boost. Godwin could have gotten some sympathy from viewers because of what happened while she was on the Bachelor. In case you aren’t aware, Underwood went on two of the fantasy suite dates, Tayshia Adams and Cassie Randolph, where he was convinced that he loved Randolph and when Randolph wanted to leave the show he jumped a fence because he couldn’t take it anymore and he wanted to leave the show and it all happened without even going on a date with Godwin. So, viewers could have been sympathetic towards her because she was head over heels towards him and he decided very last minute without giving her a chance to go a different way.
Once the show is over, that is when they start to make their money. Godwin had more exposure than Randolph has. Randolph’s on camera time ended once the Bachelor ended, while Godwin went on to be on Bachelor in Paradise, where they get paid for their appearance. It would make sense if Godwin made more than Randolph. According to ECelebs, Randolph’s net worth is $350,000, while Godwin’s is $200,000 according to Gossip Gist.
Godwin and Randolph have different ways of living. Godwin is a basic influencer she has many ads posted on her Instagram along with she always posts Instagram stories showing where people could buy all of her clothing, She looks like she is modeling in every picture. While Randolph post pictures of her everyday filtered life, with a couple of sponsored ads. Yes, they are edited, showing the best of her everyday life but Underwood posts pictures of her at home with their cats, her doing homework or them traveling while she is still doing her homework, so her digital identity is more wholesome.
There are a lot of factors that go into becoming a successful social media influencer from being a nobody bachelor contestant. Some of the factors include previous following, how hard you’ll work and the most important part being how far you make it in the show. You can still become an influencer no matter how long you are on the show for, but to become a very successful influencer, when it is the only thing you need to do in order to make a living, you need to make it pretty far or at least make a good impression on the viewers so they bring you back for Paradise.
There are different types of people that come out of the show. Those who want to make a career out of it and those that it is just a consequence of them finding “love”. Someone who wants to make a career out of the show is someone like Godwin. Consider her previous experience and her continued love for being an influencer it is apparent that she wants to make a career out of it. Randolph is the other type. She obviously has other plans with her life, considering the fact that she is still in school to get her master’s degree, to her it is just something that help her get to where she needed to be, it also probably helps her pay for school.
Either way, they are both doing really well for themselves. They were able to find love and find the cash along with it. They are living their best lives, and nobody can stop them. Except for people who won’t buy their clothes anymore.
