so we all know about the absolute banger of a movie known as the matrix, you know the crucially acclaimed movie with reeves as Nero, set in the dystopian future were the last remaining humans fight against the machine that “created” them. now let me as you a question, what happens when you mixes the elements of a fantastic classic like the matrix and fused it with…um…woke liberalism??????? and make a project that’s actually really good? well you get the spring 2024 short film project IDENTITEAZE, a sfi-fi mystery about a 2 people who lost their identity and try to get it back all while trying to find out what is going on.
but before we go on, you might be wondering where the hell i’ve even heard about this? well…
THIS MAY LOOKS FAMILAIR
so do you remember this person… (or to be more precise do you remember this video)
yea so, usually at the end of every video she makes, she would make a self-inserted to her nebula account for people to further support her more. in one of the those self-inserts she mention a independent project that was in the making (well by the time I’m writing this it’s already come out), a project that speaks about the search for their identity while also figuring out what the hell is going on. of course I’m talking about IDENTITEAZE. but the problem is, i didn’t have the nebula app on mine so I kinda scoff it off. but i wanted to support her (especially since she was the one that made me go down this fairy tale rabbit hole) so i got the app and started watching short film and holy shit, this film is so DANM GOOOD. from the music to the visual effects, it somewhat captivate me to watching the whole film, even though there was some…uh… interesting topics that came up with the movie but i still like it.
MY EXPERIENCE
that being said however, i would admit that i did felt a little uncomfortable the second time i watch the film. the first time i watch the film i was flat out confused. so for one thing, some of the question that i had wasn’t answer like for example, when both “Aaron” watch the presentation video on the V.verse (I don’t remember the whole title so I’m calling it the V.verse) some of the questions wasn’t answer like “why did the CEO made this in the first place?” another question that I had was during the end of the movie where the two Aarons merged together to create a new avatar, another question that I had was “ok so what happens then, did they pull a matrix 3 and rework the system or are they gonna be forever an anomaly?” so the technique that the creators use here is “keeping their card to their chest”, what I mean by that is the fact that throughout the film, it has given us little information of the situation that the two main character their are in.
another (but unfortunate) feeling that I had when I was watching the short film for the second time was discomfort. now don’t get me wrong, the flim was great; wish it was a little bit longer, so I can some of the unanswered question I’d had to be answer, but I digress. I’m talking about some of the research that I unfortunately came across. so after the first watch through, I was extremely confused on the movie, especially the ending of the movie where the dark skin desk lady ask the newly merged identity and asked along the lines of “so who are you now?” and the movie ends with both the male and female Aaron being reembrace while the newly made identity stands proudly. at first i was trying to figure what did it means because for the absolute life of me, I was too fixated on the ending that I almost forgot to do this post. so I did a little research what did it mean and um… I think I’ve step in a landmine. this article: dominion post: identiteaze; non-binary talks about one interpretation of short-film where it speaks about the flim being about non-binary identities and the struggles of being non-binary in society. now when I read this article, my perspective of the movie change. for one thing, I felt extremely discomfort since this deals with the LGBTQ community and that topic alone is extremely hard to speak about without getting a few skank eyes from people who are in this community. in that sense the technique that the creator use is addressing real world topics. the way they use the v.verse cooperation as a symbol of modern society, combine with the orientation, that both Aaron saw in the beginning to the middle of the film give us (the audience) a sense of what themes it’s expressing and for some people (more specifically the non-binary communities) a sense of belonging.
ideas for algorithms checks
considering the last two post that i made (that being both this post and the one that I’m currently working on), i think that another way the algorithms give you random content is through the topics that your interested in
